Cubby’s First Journey

Bought this for my nephew's birthday and honestly it's become his favourite gift. He keeps every letter in a little box beside his bed.

We ordered this after seeing an ad on Facebook and honestly I wasn't expecting much. We have tried subscription boxes before and most lose their novelty pretty quickly. Paddy Pigeon has been completely different. My daughter now knows who Cubby is, talks about him like he's one of her little friends and keeps asking where he'll travel next. She has every single letter neatly tucked back into its envelope and refuses to let me throw anything away. We've started keeping everything in a memory box because I know she'll want these when she's older.

My son actually runs to the mailbox now 😂 Never thought I'd be saying that.

The artwork is stunning. My daughter has started pinning the maps on her bedroom wall and loves telling visitors where Cubby has been. I honestly didn't realise a monthly letter could become something she treasures this much.

I ordered this because my granddaughter absolutely loves getting mail. What surprised me most was how much she enjoys talking about the stories afterwards. She tells me all about Cubby's adventures over the phone and asks me where I think he'll go next. It's given us something lovely to share together.

My little boy isn't usually interested in sitting still for stories but Cubby somehow keeps his attention the whole time. Afterwards he insists on colouring the activity sheet before dinner 😂

My granddaughter lives almost five hours away so I don't get to see her very often. I wanted something that reminded her that Grandma was thinking about her every month. Everything feels premium. The paper quality is beautiful, the illustrations are gorgeous and the stories are exactly the right length for bedtime. My twins always argue over who gets to hold the letter while we read it 😂

As a dad I'm usually pretty sceptical of subscription products because they often lose their appeal after the first delivery. This has honestly been the opposite. Every month our daughter gets just as excited as the first time. She immediately recognises Cubby, remembers previous adventures and starts making guesses about where he'll end up next. We've even caught ourselves getting excited when we see the envelope arrive. It's become one of those small family rituals that I hope we'll remember for years.
