Birthday Gift Ideas That Last
By the following weekend, most birthday presents have already had their best moment. The wrapping's gone, the excitement's settled, and whatever it was has taken its place among everything else. Paddy Pigeon is built to avoid that — there's something to open on the day, and then eleven more months of the same excitement still to come.
The bit that usually needs explaining is that it isn't "a present that arrives later instead of now." The FREE Gift Reveal Printable (Mini Mailbox Craft Kit) arrives by email as soon as you check out — print it, colour it in and assemble the little mailbox together, then let them open it on the day to reveal that their first letter is on its way. The letters are what continues once the party's over.
Birthdays already have a shape to them: the build-up, the day itself, and then a flatter stretch afterward. This gift is designed to sit across all three, rather than being finished by the time the candles are out.
What you hand over on the day
The FREE Gift Reveal Printable (Mini Mailbox Craft Kit) is the activity for the birthday itself — print, colour and assemble the mini mailbox together, then let them open it to find the surprise envelope inside, distinct from the letters that follow.
What happens after
The first envelope, with their name on it, follows in the next scheduled mailing, and the story continues from there, monthly or prepaid, depending on the plan chosen. Full mailing timing is on our How It Works section.
Why the timing works for a birthday specifically
Instead of one excitement that peaks and fades, there's a second one arriving a month later, and another after that — closer to how a birthday actually feels in the lead-up than to how quickly it's usually over.
Choosing the right length
Many choose Prepaid so the story runs for a full year, roughly to the next birthday. Monthly suits a smaller first gift. Choose Personalised and Cubby sends a personalised birthday card and a birthday surprise too — see our Plans section for the full breakdown.
