Personalised Letters for Kids

A child's hands opening an envelope addressed to them

Very few children get mail addressed just to them — most of what arrives in a letterbox is for the adults in the house, so when an envelope actually has a child's name on it, it tends to get noticed before anyone's even said a word, sometimes before it's fully out of the letterbox. That's the idea Paddy Pigeon grew from — you can read more about it on Our Story.

That's the moment Paddy Pigeon is built around, once a month, for a year. Every envelope carries your child's name, and inside, Paddy's welcome note is written directly to them — so even though the adventure itself is the same story every child follows, the letter still feels like it was made for them, because part of it was.

The waiting is part of it

Because a new letter is only due once a month, there's a stretch of genuine anticipation between deliveries — long enough that the next one is actually looked forward to, not just expected. That gap does more work than people usually credit it for. It's real snail mail, not a notification, and that's part of the point.

What's inside the envelope

Alongside the letter, most months include a small keepsake or activity connected to that part of the story — something to hold, not just read. The format is shown in full on our What's Inside section.

How the personalisation works

You provide your child's name at setup. It appears on every envelope, and each adventure letter includes a personalised welcome note from Paddy addressed to them. The adventure story itself is the same for every child — what's personal is how each letter is addressed and introduced to yours. Setup is covered on our How It Works section.

Starting a subscription

A single month is a reasonable way to see how it lands before committing further — Complete Season and ongoing plans are on our Plans section, and the full details of how billing works are on our Monthly Letter Subscription page. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a grandchild if you're buying for someone else's child.

Questions about personalised letters

Is the whole letter personalised, or just the envelope?

The child's name is printed on the envelope, and each letter includes a personal welcome note from Paddy addressed to them — the adventure story itself is the same one every child follows.

Can I choose what happens in the story?

The story is the same adventure every child follows; personalisation is in your child's name on the envelope and Paddy's welcome note addressed to them.

What do I need to provide besides their name?

A few basic details at setup — nothing further is needed from you each month.

Will it work for a younger child who can't read independently?

Yes — most letters are read aloud with younger children and enjoyed independently as they get older.

Is this different from a personalised storybook?

Yes — it's an ongoing monthly experience with a new letter and keepsake each time, rather than a single finished item.
